SWIG Hip Flask – Will travel for tipple

The Swig Hip Flask that was recently added to our travel kit, couldn’t have come at a better time in our lives. At Different Doors, we enjoy having a good drink every now and then. I, probably more than Revati. And among our favourite things to do when we travel is to sample the local tipple. But as we find ourselves going off the beaten path ever so often, it also means finding ourselves small towns where bars shut earlier than we’re used to, or are virtually impossible to sniff out. I remember carrying quarts of Jameson on our Great Ocean Road Trip and whipping it out at night after we were done driving, only because it was so cold and the view deserved a toast. I can think of a million times when we could have definitely done with one of these hip Flasks on our travels.

Swig is one of those London brands that combines a bit of subtle cool with classic old world charm, what with the steel body hip flasks, screw top and leather casing. We love the dark brown, veg-tan leather, wet moulded by artisans in Ubrique, Spain that sits snugly on the flask with stitching that puts in the league of “well-crafted products”. Not too heavy, it fits perfectly in my hand or inner jacket pocket. The only thing I do wish they’d change is the size of the not so subtle branding on the leather sleeve.

The Swig Hip Flask is a brilliant addition to our arsenal for upcoming winter trips when we’re quite sure we’ll be dipping into my pocket rather often! With a whole range of accessories to add on, from interchangeable pouches in leather, with magnetic clasps and tweed styles, a stainless steel funnel, personalised engraving, a membership to the SWIG secret society, it’s a great gift for anyone who loves travel and drink!

  • We have an awesome hippie flask too. Its one of the best things to carry around while traveling. Though this one looks very premium, should try and get it.

  • Haha, I never considered travelling with a hip flask, although I do own one 🙂 It’s actually a great idea for the exact reasons you mention above! The SWIG one looks really classy too!

  • In my opinion, it’s never a bad thing to have a flask along! You never know when you’re going to need it. Hah. It’s a fun accessory that makes me feel like a grownup.

  • Seems like an interesting thing to take traveling with you, I personally wouldn’t take one but that’s because I don’t drink too often. It would be handy if I did though 🙂

  • Whatever happened to hip flasks eh? They seem to have gone right out of fashion, although obviously not. Would make a good present for some hard-to-please person in your life.

  • A flask is not something I would ever have thought to add to my travel paraphernalia, but it could definitely save you a lot of money if you enjoy a drink for the drink’s sake and not for the social aspect of drinking in a bar or restaurant.
