10 Travel Lessons from 2016 to take into the new year

2016 was a great year for us. Considering we’re not full time travellers and we both have demanding day jobs, we’re quite stoked that we actually managed to pull off 9 significant trips in 12 months! And here’s 10 travel lessons our 9 trips from 2016 taught us. Lesson #1: Do nothing We kicked off 2016 with a holiday. Yes, a holiday (and you can read about why we do

Mélia Dubai – An unexpected discovery

The Mélia Dubai, I must admit wouldn’t have been on our list of top hotels in Dubai. To begin with, what would a Spanish hotel chain know about Dubai’s ostentatious style of design and hospitality? A lot, as we discovered on our stay there last month. And then there was the umm.. interesting location. Bur Dubai, where the Mélia Dubai is located, again wouldn’t be among my top list of

flydubai Business Class – A wonderful surprise 35,000 ft in the air

2016 couldn’t have had a better end. Back in November while we were trying to make plans on where to escape one last time in 2016, flydubai pleasantly surprised us with an invitation to join them on a quick trip to Dubai. The Millionaire’s Guide to Dubai

The world’s only seven star property, islands that represent the world map, ski slopes in the middle of the desert, people with more money than sense, Dubai’s got more bling than you can handle, and while I have some fuzzy memories of my childhood in the Middle East, we knew (much like so many of you readers) that to do Dubai right, you’ve got to do it in style. So

Big Bus Dubai – Our ticket to seeing it all

Dubai. The Burj Khalifa. Atlantis. Al Fahidi Fort. Mall of the Emirates. Desert Safaris. Just the thought of seeing all of these wonderful places that we’ve seen so many times on our computer screens sent my Dubai Trip Planning into overdrive. It’s one thing to say that as travellers we believe in slow travel and smelling the flowers and all of that. But when there’s so much of the world to

The Dubai Desert Trip: Anything but a safari

“What is the most frightening thing you guys have encountered on your travels?” That was quite an ominous question Ravi asked us around midnight, considering we were five adults and one toddler out in the middle of the desert with not a sign of civilisation all the way to the horizon whichever direction you looked. Little did we imagine while we were planning our brief visit to Dubai that we would be out

Intercontinental Dubai Festival City – All that glitters

Dubai. Definitely the kind of place you want to see through the lens of luxury. It’s glitzy, glamorous, and everyone around is dripping with bling. Chrome plated sports cars, monogrammed handbags and anything else that sends out the message that money can truly buy everything. The need to stay at a swish star hotel, with incredible views of the cityscape was pertinent. So we picked the Intercontinental Dubai Festival City.
